Alpha Chi's history at DePauw:

In the fall of 1885, Professor Howe, the first Dean of the School of Music, invited seven women from the school to a meeting with the purpose of forming a women's fraternity. The first constitution read: "The object of this fraternity is as follows: To attain the highest musical culture and to cultivate those principles that embody true womanhood." However, Alpha Chi was never a strictly musical organization.

What Alpha Chi means to me:
"Alpha Chi Omega means being surrounded by my role models."
"Alpha Chi means meeting my future bridesmaids, crying during Chickflicks and screaming "Like a Prayer" at the top of my lungs while knowing that all my sisters are doing it too."
"Alpha Chi Omega means having a home within my DePauw home.  A place where I am fully accepted by everyone while still being challenged to be a real strong woman in every aspect of my life."
